I’ve been on a rug hunt lately… searching for the perfect rug for my son’s bedroom. If you’ve been following along, you know he’s at that age where everything is changing—new interests, new colors, and suddenly he’s way more opinionated about what goes in his room! Finding a rug that was both practical, fun, and stylish has been a bit of a challenge.
But I turned to you all for help and y’all did deliver! I got a ton of DMs with rug recommendations so I figured I’d share. I’ve rounded up the top 10 places you all have suggested.
I can’t even tell you how many of you recommended Ruggable, especially if you have kids, pets, or are just generally living the “messy but cozy” life. The fact that you can easily toss them in the wash after a spill or pet mishap makes them a game changer. I have a Ruggable in my home office and it is one of my favorites even when it comes time for cleaning.

Wayfair is basically the go-to for all things home. Several of you reached out to say this is your rug haven because they have a massive selection with filters for size, color, material—basically, whatever you’re looking for, they’ve got it. But to be honestly, this stresses me out a bit😅
Amazon was not my first thought for rugs, but all the recommendations I have received are changing my mind. With a huge selection across all price points and styles, it’s great for finding exactly what you need. I like that I can easily see all the reviews and photos people like me have shared. The best part is the fast shipping and free returns, making it a low-risk option for rug shopping.
Revival Rugs was recommended for their vintage, handwoven, and often one-of-a-kind finds. Many of you mentioned that their rugs are surprisingly affordable for the quality and uniqueness. They also offer custom sizing, which is perfect for those tricky spaces where you can’t find the perfect fit elsewhere.
Okay, let’s be real—IKEA is a classic for a reason. The number of you who mentioned IKEA as your go-to for budget-friendly rugs is honestly not surprising. But, I find their rugs are more for high-traffic areas or a temporary solution in places where you want to avoid spending a lot of money.
I guess if you’re into treasure hunting, Marshalls and HomeGoods is the spot. They’re constantly rotating inventory of rugs at cheap prices. You never know what you’ll find, which is part of the fun! I like going to these stores for small items but, I can’t see myself going there and risking leaving with no good finds.
Costco made it onto the list because of its amazing deals. If you’re a member, you know they offer quality rugs at competitive prices—often much lower than other retailers. The selection isn’t as vast as some other stores, but the pieces they carry tend to be well-made, stylish, and often in sizes that work for larger spaces. I also find that Costco is less pressure for me being that their return policy is so easy-going.
For those of you who are always on the hunt for a good deal, Overstock came up a lot. If you like the thrill of finding a steal, Overstock is definitely the place to check out. They frequently have sales.
I absolutely love that so many of you mentioned local thrift stores and flea markets! Sometimes, the best finds are in those hidden gems. Vintage and antique rugs can often be found at prices that are way better than anything new. Another great option I have been interested to test out is Facebook Marketplace. You can usually negotiate directly with sellers for a better deal too.
For budget-friendly rugs, Home Depot and Lowe’s are solid choices. They offer a variety of durable, practical options, especially for high-traffic or outdoor spaces. While they’re not luxury stores, you can find great deals and convenient in-store pickup. Perfect if you’re looking for function without splurging.
My rug hunt is still ongoing, but I’m getting closer to making a decision thanks to all of your amazing recommendations! From the practicality of Ruggable to the treasure hunt at HomeGoods, it’s clear there are plenty of great options out there. I’m weighing style, durability, and, of course, budget, but I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on what I ultimately decide. Stay tuned for the final reveal!
