Our passion for design and creating a life we are excited to live has brought us to this exact point where we are standing and sharing with you. We have conquered so much but have only just begun.
The thing I have learned most with DIY is that before diving into any project, it’s crucial to plan ahead. Measure your garage space and envision how you want it to function. I try to ask myself questions that will lead me to a practical workspace like, do I need a designated workbench area? Do i need a decent amount of storage for tools and equipment? Consider these aspects as you sketch out your new garage layout.
Step 2: Installing Cabinets
with Wood Countertop
Assemble or Purchase Cabinets: Depending on your preference, assemble your cabinets if they come flat-packed or purchase pre-assembled. I went with the need to assemble option to make for a more fun diy alternative.
Mount Cabinets: Securely attach the cabinets to the wall studs using a drill and screws. Use a level to ensure they are straight and aligned.
Install Countertop: Measure and cut your chosen wood to fit the dimensions of your cabinets. Secure the countertop to the cabinets, ensuring it’s level and stable.
Step 3: Adding a SlatWall
Installation Steps
Mount Slat Wall Panels: Measure and mount slat wall panels onto your garage walls. Securely attach studs for maximum stability.
Organize with Accessories: Attach hooks, bins, and shelves onto the slat wall to store tools, sports equipment, or gardening supplies.
Step 4: Creating Custom Shelves
Installation Steps
Measure and Plan: Determine where you want shelves and measure the space. Decide on the shelf dimensions and materials. Use a level to ensure shelves are straight and evenly spaced.
Attach Shelves: Place the shelves onto the brackets or supports. Secure them with screws, especially for heavier items.
Finally, you’ll have a garage that’s the envy of the neighborhood. Now, enjoy the space!
