This past weekend I was invited by my social media “brother”, Deric Cahill, a comedian @dericcahil to take his Instagram series “F*ck This House” on the road! We both have a common goal to have fun, help others and laugh A LOT.

where i would focus  one of his comedy shows in Phoenix, Arizona and do a little give back DIYing, too.  And if you know me, you know I love giving back and laughing, so this invite was answered with an instant, yes!

As per usual, CHS does not fly direct to Phoenix.  But, I am never surprised anymore so I have succumbed to the fact that Atlanta Airport is my real home airport base.  So I know, once I get to Atlanta, off I go to wherever I need to end up.

Deric was headlining a show at ASU which is just cool to even say, let alone attend as a full access VIP.  As my first Professionally funny friend, it was a very cool experience that when I think about it, all started from sending each other memes about our green pools and other random DM’s.  And no, we never gave it that much thought that we kinda, sorta resemble each other and it was all everyone was going to be talking about.  Haha.

Anyway, back to the trip.  It was better than I could have imagined and I definitely made a forever friend with this funny guy.

Here’s the rundown of how the weekend went!

We started each morning at Dutch Bros for our coffee fix! We definitely b*tched about the drive-thru and how it was always packed, but it was close to our AirBnb and the drinks were on point. Tip: if you get the “caramelizer” ask for only ¼ pump of caramel and you’ll thank me later. Honestly, it became our little morning ritual, where we popped on Deric’s IG Live and where we chatted it up each day with our drive thru line barista.

Friday: Arrives in Phoenix, Arizona (PHX)

Deric Cahill Headlines at Arizona State University

  • Lunch in Old Village: We kicked things off by grabbing lunch at the Old Village in Sedona. It kinda gave Old Wild West Vibes. We ate at Cien Agaves. Guac was on point, Coconut Marg was too sweet,  I mixed and matched the taco and the were all really good.
    Rating 7.3 out of 10
  • Checking into our Airbnb: After that, we headed to our Airbnb—20 mins away in Scottsdale, It was clean and had a pretty relaxing backyard, with a firepit. We unpacked, cracked open a couple of drinks to toast too and got ready for the night!. Airbnb Rating 7.5 out of 10 – Location was on point – were 20 mins for pretty much everything.
  • Deric Cahill Headlines at Arizona State University
  • This was a pretty dope experience! Still I was now Deric’ “bodyguard” . We first got picked up by the Event Coordinator and were whisked away in a golf cart and brought backstage to a sick venue overlooking the Football Stadium. They had a fruit tray, beer and pizza for us. We were treated like royalty. It was pretty cool. They even asked all of the comedians to sign their ASU lunch tray. I think you could say they made it!
  • The highlight of the night? Watching my boy take the stage as the headliner at a Phoenix comedy venue. The crowd loved him, and I couldn’t help but feel so proud seeing him crush it on stage. 10/10 obvi.

Saturday: The DIYing Begins!

Day 1: F*ck this House ON THE ROAD

  • Demolition of Backyard Wall – Let’s Fix Some Houses! This is where it got fun! We got tagged to help renovate homes for our followers, and our first task? Demolishing a CMU wall in a backyard.. We filmed the whole thing, and it’s going to be part of our YouTube series! But for now catch up here -> link to Deric’s Reel

Talking Stick Casino – Texas Hold’em, Poker, Blackjack, Live Games: After a day of hard work, we hit up the Talking Stick Resort Casino for some fun. The resort is not far from the main strip of Scottsdale and the resort even has a golf course. Next time, ‘ll have to check out the course. We tried our luck at the tables—Texas Hold’em, Poker, Blackjack—you name it. Deric and I both choked and lost in about 2 hours but we held strong and this was my first time playing live poker. I thought it was worth the experience. The dealers were friendly and helped me out knowing I was a rookie. Next time, ill do a little better job following the dealer chip! 😂

Sunday: Bathroom Reno

Day 2: F*ck this House ON THE ROAD

  • Bathroom Renovation: For our next DIY project, we helped renovate a 4-year-old’s bathroom. We ripped out the old sink and mirror and started putting in new flooring where the sink existed. It was hard work but so satisfying and a lot of fun to do with a buddy who happens to be a comedian and is actually funny.
  • Lunch at Dominick’s Steakhouse: After a productive day, we were starving, so we went to Dominick’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale Quarter for some next-level food. The vibe was perfect—classy yet laid-back. We definitely took a few pics for the ‘gram.

Monday: Install of Door

Day 3: F*ck this House ON THE ROAD

Installing the Bathroom Door: Last day of DIYs, we installed a new, wider swinging door to replace the old accordion one. Small change, but it made such a difference.

Phoenix Suns vs. Orlando Magic Basketball Game: To top off the trip, we went to a Phoenix Suns vs. Orlando Magic game. This arena is in the heart of Phoenix which was nice to see the surrounding area. It was my first live pro basketball game, and the energy in the arena was insane. It was the perfect way to close out an epic weekend.
